This new home replaces an existing 1950s family-built cottage. The new cottage keeps to the small scale of the original house in order to maximize outdoor use of the property and to keep maintenance to a minimum. The overall design is based around maintaining beautiful views of the lake from all principal rooms, including the master bedroom. The high-level mono pitched roof in the great room and screened porch encourages passive ventilation, eliminating the need for air conditioning in the summer months. The efficient wood stove off-sets the in-floor heating loads in colder weather.
