This newly constructed home replaces a pre-existing bungalow and provides much needed space for a growing family of six. Although the new home provides more living space than before, the overall building footprint is smaller creating a larger backyard. The design takes cues from the original 1960s style as a reference to the historical precedent of the neighbourhood. It also accommodates the family's varying hobbies and active social life, including a sports equipment room in the basement with its own ventilation system. The structural design uses advanced framing methods that provide higher insulation values and reduce the amount of wood materials required for construction.
