Located east of Peterborough the site for this modern farmhouse has incredible views in all directions. The design intention is to capture as many views as possible while maintaining a cosy and intimate interior environment. The exterior of the home references the ruggedness of the existing farm buildings while maintaining traditional styling in keeping with the local vernacular. Special attention was paid to effectively implement Passive Solar Design and Passive House strategies. The exterior walls are double stud construction filled with blown in cellulose insulation for an R-value of 50 which complement the super insulated slab and roof space. The house will use so little energy that with the implementation of photovoltaic solar panels it will effective become a Net Zero Energy home.
