Bloorcourt Laneway House

Bloorcourt Laneway House is an energy-efficient 2-bedroom home situated on a wide lot in downtown Toronto. It has the look and feel of a historic warehouse nestled behind houses and sits flush with the neighbouring garages for a continuous sightline down the laneway.

The interior is that of a comfortable and welcoming home that is intentionally suited for different types of occupants. The vision was for the house to be a rental suite in the near term, and a full-time home for the property owners in the long term.

Every space in this 1,000-square foot home is used for function. The front door opens to a coat closet and an open concept kitchen-dining space. At the core of the ground floor is a large kitchen island and dining table, with a view to a leafy courtyard patio. The living room is located to the side, through a threshold marked by an overhead bookshelf.
