Solares Architecture is an OAA-licensed architecture studio based in Toronto and Ottawa. We specialize in sustainable, low-carbon residential design for new construction and renovations throughout Ontario. Our complete turnkey process guides you through every stage of creating your custom project.
Since our founding in 2005, we have earned a reputation as experts in thoughtful design, sustainability, and budget management for homes ranging from single-family to multiplexes to laneway and garden suites. Our comprehensive, organized, and collaborative process provides our clients with confidence, peace-of-mind, and enjoyment.
We believe the fundamentals of sustainability are passive solar design, all-electric and low-carbon energy, airtight and ultra-insulated building envelopes, and high-quality construction. Our extensive knowledge and experience in sustainable design and high-performance building science is imbued throughout our service to both project clients and other industry professionals.
History
Solares was founded by architects Christine Lolley and Tom Knezic in 2005. Over the years we have had a singular focus on the residential sector, working with homeowners, families, multi-generational clients, property developers, and investors. Our clients want beautiful, quality homes for themselves and their investments that will stand the test of time and be efficient to operate.
After nearly twenty years with Solares, Tom Knezic branched off to start a sister-company based on his years of experience building and operating multiplexes in Toronto. Through Eco-Flats Developments, and often in collaboration with Solares, he now works with clients on development strategy, construction management, and ongoing property management for multiplex projects in Toronto.
